Banderas gets into 'Big Bang'

Antonio Banderas will star in "The Big Bang," a film noir detective story to be directed by Tony Krantz.

According to Variety, Richard Rionda Del Castro, Krantz and Erik Jendresen will produce the film, with the script written by Jendresen, who also wrote "Band of Brothers".

Banderas stars as an L.A. private detective who's hired to find a missing exotic dancer. Her trail leads to the New Mexico desert, where he finds a trail of bodies and has to deal with a sadistic Russian boxer, three LAPD detectives and an aging billionaire looking to perfect the Big Bang theory.

Handling the executive producing duties will be Patricia Eberle, Richard Salvatore and Ross Dinerstein.

Production begins in Spokane, Wash., in September.

The film will be the first theatrical feature for Krantz, a former agent at CAA. He spent 15 years developing and packaging series at CAA. He later headed Imagine TV and directed “Sublime” and “Otis”, two Jendresen-written films that were created to go straight to video through Raw Feed, which Krantz had a hand in co-creating.

Krantz now owns Flame Ventures, whose upcoming projects include a NASCAR Imax film in 3-D that Krantz will direct, and "The Conversation," an AMC series based on the classic 1974 Francis Ford Coppola film that is being written by Jendresen and Christopher McQuarrie, who also wrote “The Usual Suspects” and “Valkyrie".
