Stone goes back to hit ‘Street’ again

Oliver Stone has agreed with 20th Century Fox to direct the sequel to his 1987 film “Wall Street” with Michael Douglas reprising his iconic, Oscar-winning role as Gordon Gekko.

“Wall Street” has come to be seen as the ultimate portrayal of 1980s excess, with Douglas stating that "greed, for lack of a better word, is good".

The original centered on a stockbroker, Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen), who is desperate to get to the top. He wants to be in business with the extremely successful but unscrupulous corporate raider Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), a ruthless and legendary Wall Street player whose values could not conflict more with those of Bud's father Carl (Martin Sheen). The original also starred Daryl Hannah, Terence Stamp and Hal Holbrook.

According to Variety, Shia LaBeouf is in negotiations to join the cast. The plot, which will use the recent economic meltdown caused by greed and corruption, will focus again on a young Wall Street trader and Gekko’s influence on him.

Edward R. Pressman will handle producing duties while Allan Loeb will write the script.
