Universal Studios Hollywood looking for some tour guides

Universal Studios Hollywood has announced an open casting call for Studio Tour guides on Thursday, May 7th, from 2pm-5pm, at VIP Experience Lounge, located to the right of Universal Studios Hollywood main entrance. Universal Studios Hollywood is in the process of converting its fleet of trams into mobile movie theatres by upgrading its signature, behind-the-scenes attraction with state-of-the-art, flat-screen Hi-Definition monitors and digital playback systems.

The Studio Tour Guide program has evolved as a Hollywood “apprenticeship.” The job also gives employees access to Hollywood-insider perks - such as intimate group symposiums with prestigious industry professionals, free acting classes by top professors and auditions for top industry casting directors.

The new Hi-Def monitors will feature commentary from filmmakers, including Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Stephen Sommers, along with insight from such personalities as Whoopi Goldberg. The system has been designed to allow the Studio Tour guides to instantly select material from the several hundreds of clips, all corresponding to the sites visited along the Studio Tour route, to add a new dimension to the tour of backlot sets and facades.

During the reconstruction phase of the backlot, damaged over a year after a fire consumed four acres on the world’s largest working movie studio lot, Studio Tour guests will experience a panoramic view of the construction and dramatic transformation taking place at the historic studio. Universal Studios will re-open in mid-summer most of its iconic sets and will unveil innovative shooting locations designed to meet contemporary film production needs.
