Universal has hired “Brotherhood” creator Blake Masters to pen the big screen adaptation of Boom! Studios’ graphic novel ‘2 Guns.’
Boom! Studios’ graphic novel ‘2 Guns’ gets the big screen treatment from "Brotherhood" creator Blake Masters.
The film (which has been described as a buddy cop adventure) will be produced by Marc Platt through his Marc Platt Prods. and by Boom! co-founders Andrew Cosby and Ross Richie. The project will be overseen by Jeffrey Kirschenbaum and Adam Siegel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The graphic novel was written by Steven Grant and featured art by Mat Santolouco. The story revolved around a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer who become involved in a $50 million theft involving the mob and the CIA.
Master’s "Brotherhood" was a hit for Showtime and featured a story following two brothers from Rhode Island. One was a violent gangster and the other a crafty politician. The two were often on opposite sides of the law, but had to work together due to family ties. The series ran for three seasons and was well-received due to its writing and the performances of its cast.
Masters has also been tapped to pen an adaptation of Peter Blauner’s novel "Slipping into Darkness" for Warner Bros. He is set to make his feature film directorial debut with “Blueprint” – which he also wrote.
