Killer Films are adapting Staton Rabin's children's book 'Betsy and the Emperor' for the big screen.

Killer Films are adapting Staton Rabin's children's book 'Betsy and the Emperor' for the big screen.The book was originally set to be adapted by Warner Bros. Variety reports John Curran will direct from a script by Brian Edgar. Al Pacino, who had signed up for the cancelled adaptation, will star in Killer's version.The story is set in 1815 follows the adventures of fourteen-year-old English girl Betsy Balcombe. Betsy and her family live on the isolated Island of St. Helena and have a very special house guest.Napoleon Bonaparte has lost everything after being defeated in battle. Condemned to live out his life on the rat infested island, he befriends Betsy.
