Kevin Macdonald to direct 'The Eagle of the Ninth'

Ortega / PR PhotosThe Focus Features distributed film will star Jamie Bell and tells the story of a wounded Roman soldier and his loyal Celtic slave (Bell). The pair try to solve the mysterious disappearance of the Ninth Legion, who have not been seen for 15 years after they headed morth into the Highlands of Scotland.Macdonald will helm from a script by Jeremy Brock, who also worked with him on 'The Last King of Scotland.' The story is based on the popular children's novel of the same name by Rosemary Sutcliff.According to The Hollywood Reporter Channing Tatum is in talks for the lead.Filming is expected to start later this year in Scotland and Hungary.Macdonald's next release is 'State of Play' on April 17th.
