Variety reports the studio might be looking for Ron Howard to direct the movie.
The graphic novel is loosely based on the life of influential American horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft wrote numerous short-stories and novelettes. During his lifetime they were often published in pulp magazines of the day. However, his readership was fairly limited until after his death in 1937. Since then his 'Cthulhu Mythos' of nameless uncaring gods and nightmarish creatures has been popular and influential. Some of his best known works are 'The Call of Cthulhu' and 'At the Mountains of Madness .'
Lovecraft's life was a constant financial struggle and he was often ill, his dislike of the cold is said to have inspired many of the Antarctic nightmares he created.
In the graphic novel Lovecraft is a struggling writer until he discovers an ancient book. The book curses him so that his nightmares become real and ravage the world. He is the only man who can fight the madness he has inadvertently created.
Jeffrey Blitz and Mac Carter created the book and Carter will write the script.
You can read more about the graphic novel on the official site ; it will be published on April 8th.
