Cate Blanchett is in final talks to take on the role of Maid Marian for Ridley Scott’s new version of the classic Robin Hood story – which was moving forward under the title of “Nottingham.”

Variety reports the film will star Russell Crowe as the famed archer and is produced by Scott and Imagine's Brian Grazer. It features a script by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris.
The Universal project has had a lot of movement over the past few weeks with Scott stating the film would no longer be called “Nottingham” and giving away a few of the plot details.
Originally, the film was to see Crowe as both the Sheriff of Nottingham and Robin Hood, but that concept has been scratched, according to statements Scott made in an interview.
Brian Helgeland was signed to pen the script in 2007 and Sienna Miller was in talks for the Marian role in June 2008. The script is still being worked with the plot now revolving around Crowe’s character returning from the Holy Land. It will also reportedly be an origin tale about the Robin Hood character.
Scott is looking to get the film shooting in April in the UK with an estimated budget of $130 million.
