Warner Bros. has delayed the opening of Guy Ritchie’s new spin on “Sherlock Holmes” – which has been shuffled from a Nov. 13th opening to Dec. 25th.
"Sherlock Holmes" comes to the big screen in time for Christmas.
The film stars Robert Downey Jr. as the world’s greatest detective and Jude Law as his friend and assistant Dr. Watson.
Variety reports Warner Bros.’ move is just the latest film to be rescheduled in the busy fall line-up.
Sony pushed back the release of Roland Emmerich's thriller "2012" from July 10th to Nov. 13th. The studio also moved up the Hugh Grant/Sarah Jessica Parker romantic comedy "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" to a Dec. 18th release.
The fall will also see the release of the “Twilight” sequel from Summit Entertainment. “New Moon” is scheduled to be released on Nov. 20th.
Christmas Day looks to be a busy time at the big screen. Universal has an untitled Nancy Meyers comedy set to open on Dec. 25th; Disney will release the animated family film "The Princess and the Frog"; and 20th Century Fox's will try to recapture chipmunk fever with "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel."
Warner Bros. shifting the release date of “Sherlock Holmes” put the film out a week after Fox and James Cameron’s highly anticipated "Avatar" hits the big screen.
