Universal picks up ‘Adventurer's Handbook’ for Hill and Schwartzman

Universal Pictures inked a seven-figure deal for the rights to "The Adventurer's Handbook" comedy script. The film is set to start Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman. Variety reports Hill (who broke big with Judd Apatow’s "Superbad") also wrote the script with Matt Spicer and Max Winkler. The film’s script was inspired by Mick Conefrey’s novel "The Adventurer's Handbook: Life Lessons from History's Great Explorers" and Akiva Schaffer is in talks to direct.Schaffer made his feature directing debut with the Andy Samberg film “Hot Rod,” and has directed several episodes of "Saturday Night Live.""The Adventurer's Handbook" follows a group of friends on a global adventure and was inspired by the explorers’ stories in Conefrey's novel. The film is scheduled to start shooting this year with Hill, Spicer and Winkler handling executive producing duties.
