Taylor Lautner will return to the role of Jacob Black for Summit Entertainment’s “Twilight” follow-up “New Moon.”
Variety reports Lautner’s return was confirmed by Summit and “New Moon” director Chris Weitz in an announcement made on Wednesday.
Lautner’s Jacob Black character becomes a main part of Stephenie Meyer’s series in “New Moon” as Bella Swan becomes more involved in the world of werewolves – the enemies of vampires.
The Black character goes through several changes in “New Moon” including aging 10 years and physical changes. Weitz has stated Lautner was “emotionally right” for the role, and the 16-year-old actor has reportedly been hitting the gym to add more muscle and bulk to his body.
“New Moon” will also see Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart return to their roles and is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 20th.
“Twilight” earned Summit more than $177 million domestically and more than $95 million overseas.
