Variety reports Zombie has signed to write and direct “H2” – which will be a follow-up to his remake of the John Carpenter horror classic. The film is set to start production in March and will pick up right where the remake ended.
The sequel will be produced by Malek Akkad of Trancas Intl. Films and Andy Gould of Spectacle Entertainment.
Zombie (who originally didn’t want to make a sequel to the remake) has stated the film won’t be like the original sequel to “Halloween” and will see the franchise move in different directions.
In Variety, he stated: "I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again. Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called 'Halloween': If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."
His remake followed Carpenter’s original story, but also focused more on a young Michael Myers. It took in $60 million domestically in 2007.
