Ben Affleck could be returning to the director's chair for ‘Arizona.’ © Janet Mayer / PR Photos Variety reports the film is based on a true story that revolves around the death of investigative reporter Don Bolles. Bolles worked for the Arizona Republic and died in a 1976 car bomb explosion while he was investigating organized crime in state government. He co-founded the Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) – whose members completed his work after his death. Miramax has tapped Sheldon Turner to pen the screenplay for “Arizona,” and picked up Sean Bailey to produce the film. Cori Stern has signed on to executive produce the movie.The film will likely be based on case facts that are in public domain rather than Miramax striking a rights deal with IRE.Affleck’s 2007 directing debut "Gone Baby Gone" was a critical success and received several award nominations.
