Russell Brand in talks for remake of 'Arthur’

British comedian Russell Brand is in development with Warner Bros. on a remake of the 1981 classic comedy “Arthur” – which could also be a starring vehicle for the actor.

The remake is being overseen by Warner Bros.’ Sarah Schechter.The original followed a playboy with a drinking habit who is set to inherit a fortune if he marries the right woman. Unfortunately for his family, Arthur falls for a working-class woman. He soon has to choose between riches and love.“Arthur” brought Moore an Oscar nomination for his performance and Steve Gordon a nomination for his work as writer/director. John Gielgud received a best supporting actor Oscar for his work as Arthur’s valet, and the film’s theme song, “The Best That You Can Do,” picked up an Oscar for original song.
