Fox has hired Daniel McDermott to pen a remake of the 1984 adventure flick “Romancing the Stone” – which starred Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito, and Kathleen Turner and was directed by Robert Zemeckis.

The original film was written by Diane Thomas and featured an adventure story that followed a romance novelist traveling to Colombia to find her missing sister. The novelist gets on the wrong bus and soon crosses paths with an American adventurer, jewel thieves, a bad guy with a private police force, and a really big jewel.
As of yet, Fox has yet to hire a director or actors for the film. There are also no producers attached to the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
McDermott co-wrote DreamWorks’ "Eagle Eye" and is currently working on a remake of "Soylent Green" for Warner Bros.
