Paramount Pictures has signed Shia LaBeouf for the title role to the screen adaptation of John Grisham's new thriller "The Associate."
Variety reports Paramount picked up the screen rights to the upcoming novel with Lorenzo di Bonaventura set to produce the film.
In “The Associate,” LaBeouf will handle the role of a student finishing up at Yale Law School who takes a job at a top law firm and works on a multibillion-dollar lawsuit.
The novel returns Grisham to the legal thriller genre following 2005’s "The Broker," and will arrive on store shelves in January through Random House Publishing.
Di Bonaventura worked on the Grisham films "A Time to Kill" and "The Client." He is currently working with LaBeouf on "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
