Martin Campbell is set to direct the action thriller "Nagasaki Deadline" for Alcon Entertainment.
Variety reports Alcon is financing and co-producing the film with Lightstorm Entertainment and 8:38 Prods. Alcon’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are lined up to produce the film with 8:38's Kira Davis and Lightstorm's James Cameron, Rae Sanchini and Jon Landau.
The film was written by David and Peter Griffiths ("The Hunted," "Collateral Damage") – who will also executive produce. William Broyles Jr. ("Cast Away") has been hired to do a rewrite on the screenplay.
The film follows an emotionally damaged FBI agent trying to stop a terrorist plot. He has to use historic events to put the pieces together in time to stop the attack.
Alcon picked up the film out of turnaround from Fox – where it had been in development prior to the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks. Alcon has fast-tracked the film and is planning to have it in production sometime in 2009.
Campbell is currently shooting the Mel Gibson thriller "Edge of Darkness."
