Steve Carell is ‘Brigadier Gerard’

Steve Carell joins forces with Napoleon’s army for “The Adventures of Brigadier Gerard.” - seen here at Cyrus' Celebration at Disneyland on October 5, 2008 - Disneyland - Anaheim, CA, USA © Bob Charlotte / PR PhotosVariety reports the Media Rights Capital film is set during the Napoleonic Wars and is scheduled to start shooting in spring 2009. It features a script by John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky (“Blades of Glory”).It is produced by Altschuler and executive produced by Mike Judge and Krinsky. Michael Rotenberg and Tom Lassally are also set to handle executive producing duties.In the film, Carell will handle the role of the bravest soldier in Napoleon’s army who also happens to be the dumbest. He follows Napoleon from his rise to his permanent exile. The film is based on on stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The comedy is one of several films Carell is looking to shoot during his break from NBC’s hit sitcom “The Office.” Carell is also looking at a “Get Smart” sequel for Warner Bros., and joining Tina Fey in “Date Night” with Shawn Levy set to direct for Fox.
