Variety reports the China/South Korea co-production will be developed by Korea's CJ Entertainment and Zhang. CJ is set to finance part of the film and is in talks to pick up distribution rights in Europe and Asia.
The movie is expected to pick up financing from other companies in Hong Kong and China with an eye towards a $2 to $3 million budget.
The movie will be helmed by a Chinese director who will be named in November in Beijing. It is scheduled to start shooting in December.
Zhang just finished acting chores on the Chinese period drama "Mei Lanfang" and the U.S. horror flick "The Horsemen." The actress has been reportedly shopping for a romantic comedy for Asian audiences.
Zhang has appeared in two other Korean movies - "Musa The Warrior"(2001) and "My Wife Is a Gangster 2" (2003).
