Director George A. Romero is considered by many to be the master of the zombie genre and is now at work on a new untitled thriller which will feature the flesh-eating undead.
Variety reports Romero (who put zombies on the map with “Night of the Living Dead”) has penned a new film and has already started shooting the project in Ontario. His last zombie tale to hit the big screen was "Diary of the Dead."
The new film will follow a group of people on an isolated island off the North American coast. Everything is fine until their dead relatives start rising from their graves to munch on the living.
The living are forced to decide whether to kill their reanimated loved ones or find a way to control them until a cure can be found.
The film’s cast includes Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe, Devon Bostick, Richard Fitzpatrick, Stefano Colacitti and Athena Karkanis.
The untitled project is produced by Paula Devonshire and executive produced by Romero, Peter Grunwald, and D.J. Carson. Artfire Films' Ara Katz, Art Spigel and Dan Fireman are also handling executive producing chores.
The film’s international sales will be handled by Voltage Pictures with Cinetic Media in charge of selling domestic rights.

If he makes the film at least release it in actual theaters. I sat helpless last year with nothing remotely close to me. Bub loves a good Romero flick for a reason...
