Michael Douglas to star in ‘Solitary Man’

Millennium Films has signed Michael Douglas for the role of a car dealer in its new film "Solitary Man."

Variety reports Susan Sarandon, Danny DeVito and Jenna Fischer are all in talks to star in the film with Douglas. It will be directed by Brian Koppelman and David Levien from a script written by Koppelman. The film is set to start shooting in November in New York.

In the film, Douglas will handle the role of a former car dealership chain owner whose career and marriage are destroyed in the wake of his business and romantic problems.

The film will be produced by Paul Schiff and Steven Soderbergh with Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short, Moshe Diamant and Joe Gatta handling executive producing chores.

Koppelman and Levien directed the television series “Tilt” and the mob film "Knockaround Guys." They also wrote Soderbergh’s outing, "The Girlfriend Experience."

Douglas has also signed for a biofilm on Liberace which Soderbergh is developing to direct at Warner Bros. The script was written by Richard LaGravanese.
