Miley Cyrus to star in new Nicholas Sparks film

Disney has tapped Miley Cyrus for a new untitled film that is being written by author Nicholas Sparks.
Variety reports Sparks is at work on a new untitled novel while he is working on a screenplay adaptation for the film. It will be produced by Offspring Entertainment partners Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot. Tish Cyrus is set to executive produce the film.
The film’s plot is being kept quiet, but Cyrus was reportedly interested in doing a project that would move her image into a more adult genre – such as the Sparks-based film "A Walk to Remember."
"A Walk to Remember" served as a vehicle to help singer Mandy Moore jump from a pop image to drama actress. Cyrus is expected to only show off her acting skills in the film, and will not sing.
Sparks has seen several of his novels make their way to the screen including "The Notebook," "A Walk to Remember" and "Message in a Bottle."
