Ray Winstone is in talks to replace Robert De Niro on Martin Campbell’s "Edge of Darkness" with Mel Gibson.

EPA/DANIEL DEMEVariety reports De Niro left the film over “creative differences” (Daily Variety, Sept. 5) after being on set for two days. The movie is produced by Graham King's GK Films, and shooting started in Massachusetts on Aug. 18th.Winstone would handle the role of a government operative sent to clean up the evidence after a woman is murdered. Gibson plays her father who is a cop wanting answers after she is shot on his doorstep.The film will also feature Danny Huston, Shawn Roberts and Bojana Novakovic. It is based on a 1985 BBC miniseries that Campbell directed. Producing duties are handled by King, Michael Wearing and the BBC.
