Amanda Seyfried joins ‘Dear John’

Amanda Seyfried ("Mamma Mia!") has signed to star in director Lasse Hallstrom’s screen adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel "Dear John." The film will also star Channing Tatum. Amanda Seyfried -

World Premiere - Arrivals - Ziegfeld Theatre, 141 West 54th Street - New York City, NY, USA © Janet Mayer / PR Photos Variety reports Seyfried will play a young woman who falls in love with a soldier while he is on leave.“Dear John” features a screenplay from Jamie Linden, and will be financed by Relativity. It is set to start shooting Oct. 13th in South Carolina with domestic distribution handled by Screen Gems.The film will be produced by Ryan Kavanaugh, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Relativity's Tucker Tooley will handle the executive producing duties.Seyfried is currently at work filming the HBO series “Big Love” and will start “Dear John” when production wraps. She also has a role in director Karyn Kusama’s "Jennifer's Body" – which features a script from Diablo Cody.
