For godsakes, why? This is as bad an idea as the remake of Psycho.

I have to agree with you. There is NO reason to remake this film. The first one is still good, and it still holds up.

Geez, really?

This will be some overdone Hollywood remake, let it be, it was a fun 70's flick.

Please do not waste your time. You guys will lose big money on this 'idea'. Here is a better idea, why not make something original?

I agree, what a stupid idea. If you really can't come up with something new, and you feel you must cash in on the 'brand' of a classic, please just don't remake the old movie... update the franchise.

I gotta agree with the other posts. To my thinking, better special effects don't necessarily make a better film. What made it so good--and hold up so well was the cast, the director, the location, etc. You can't reproduce that with a bigger budget and more technology.
Oh, and FYI--also what made this film so well-done was inadvertant. It seemed to take on a life of it's own during the filming and continued on even after filming--it's known as the 'Poltergeist Curse'. For instance, the scene in which the little boy was being strangled by the clown and looked so horrified--it was really happening due to a prop malfunction, and the scene with all of the corpses in the pool--well, they were real corpses.
Sooo....part of what made this film what it was cannot ever be duplicated (thankfully!) but it did make for one creepy experience! Let a classic remain a classic.

I think that remaking the movie would be a good idea! The original movie was good , but there could have been better effects. They shouldn't have stopped making the movies after the third movie . If you do remake the movies don't make it dumb , like the remake of ' Willy Wonka .' Overall I really support your idea of making a remake movie .

D .
