Brad Pitt has officially signed to star in Quentin Tarantino’s World War II flick "Inglorious Bastards" for the Weinstein Co. and Universal.

Variety reports the deal will put Pitt back in Universal’s good graces following a rocky departure from the studio’s “State of Play” in 2007.
This will be the first time Pitt has worked on a film with Tarantino as director, but he did have a small role in Tony Scott’s “True Romance” – which Tarantino wrote.
Now that Pitt has joined the film, new casting rumors are starting to hit the web about other cast members. Nastassja Kinski is reportedly in talks for a female part in the film. Simon Pegg, David Krumholtz and B.J. Novak are also rumored to be up for roles in the film. Pegg is up for the role of a British lieutenant, and Krumholtz and Novak up for roles as Pitt's underlings.
The film will feature much of its dialogue in French or German with subtitles used. Since Pitt is playing a soldier from Tennessee, he will speak English. His character puts a team together consisting of eight Jewish-American soldiers who battle the Nazis.
"Inglorious Bastards" is scheduled to start filming on Oct. 13 in Germany. The film features a script from Tarantino, and the director is hoping to have it finished in time for next year's Cannes Film Festival.
It is being produced by Lawrence Bender with Erica Steinberg and Harvey and Bob Weinstein working as executive producers. Pilar Savone is handling associate producing duties.
Director Eli Roth joined the cast earlier in the week and will handle the role of Sgt. Donnie Donowitz.
