Universal Studios is in talks with the Weinstein Co. to partner on Quentin Tarantino's World War II drama "Inglorious Bastards."
Variety reports the deal is still being inked, but insiders say it will more than likely be signed. Tarantino and Harvey Weinstein have had talks with five studios about co-financing the film – with likely candidates being Paramount and Universal.
Paramount was interested in distributing the film in foreign territories, but had problems with part of the deal concerning how the grosses would be tallied. The concern had to do with the way Tarantino's contract was worded for his "Kill Bill" films.
The new film has been in the headlines lately due to Tarantino holding talks with Brad Pitt to play the role of Aldo Raine, and Leo DiCaprio about the villain role of Hans Landa.
Tarantino is scheduled to start shooting the film in the fall with locations in Germany and France.
