NOT created by Robert E. Howard. At least not in THIS form.
Red Sonya (with a 'y') of Rogatino appeared in one story (The Shadow of the Vulture) which was a historical tale set in the late Renaissance period. Howard's Red Sonya was not a bikini clad swordslinger living in the age of Conan. That version, Red Sonja (with a 'j'), was a creation of Roy Thomas obviously very very very loosely based on Howard's Sonya (as well as a second character, Dark Agnes de Chastillon, who was a 16th century swordswoman).
Any indication that this impending film, Red Sonja, is from the mind of Robert E. Howard is false on its face.
That is NOT to say, mind you, that the film won't be fine entertainment on its own merits as a design of Roy Thomas.
