Seth MacFarlane has revealed the adventures of Peter Griffin and his family are headed to the big screen with the creator looking to get “Family Guy: The Movie” into production in 2009.
In an interview with TV Week's Josef Adalian, MacFarlane stated, "We want to do it. And it is time. In the past six months we have seriously started talking about it. And my hope is that we will get it going within the next year. Doing the show is a seven-day a week process, so I don't know how we will squeeze in a movie. But we will figure it out. I have an idea about what it will be. It is definitely something you wouldn't be able to do on the show. That's the only reason to do a movie."
MacFarlane also confirmed the film would likely feature nudity and obscenities.
“Family Guy” is an animated sitcom created by MacFarlane for Fox. The series follows the Griffin family – who has a knack for getting themselves into trouble.
The family consists of Peter Griffin – an often deluded, but well meaning dad; his wife Lois – a stay-at-home mom who is often the only voice of reason; teenage daughter Meg – who often takes the blunt of the jokes; teenage son Chris – who is overweight and slightly less than intelligent; and the infant son Stewie – who is often the “bad guy” of the show despite being in a diaper. The family also has a dog named Brian – who walks on two legs, speaks English, drinks Martinis, and smokes cigarettes.
