Lionsgate picks up domestic rights to Transporter 3

Lionsgate has picked up the domestic and Canadian rights to Transporter 3 – which will feature Jason Statham. Jason Statham returns for a third time behind the wheel in Transporter 3

Jason Statham returns for a third time behind the wheel in Transporter 3Variety reports the film will also star Robert Knepper (“Prison Break”) and once again feature Francois Berleand (“Place Vendome”). Shooting has wrapped in France and Russia, and the movie has moved to the post-production phase.Transporter 3 is directed by Olivier Megaton (“The Red Siren”) from a script by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. The film was produced by Besson’s EuropaCorp, TF1 Films Prods., Grive Prods. and Apipoulai Production, in association with Current Entertainment.Lionsgate is planning on getting the film to theaters by Thanksgiving. The first two Transporter films featured screenplays by Besson and Kamen and saw a worldwide box office return of more than $130 million. Transporter 3 will further EuropaCorp's move into films with broader international marketing value.
