Johnny Depp was the big winner at last night's MTV Movie Awards (01.06.08).

The Hollywood heartthrob scooped Best Villain for his lead role in 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' and Best Comedic Performance for his portrayal as Captain Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End'.

A shocked Johnny said in his acceptance speech: "I'm not really sure how this happened. You can ask anyone, I'm not a very funny person."

Other winners included Ellen Page, who took home Best Female Performance for 'Juno' and Will Smith, who won Best Male Performance for his role in 'I Am Legend'.

'Transformers' was voted Best Movie at the ceremony, which took place at California's Gibson Amphitheatre, and was hosted by 'The Love Guru' star Mike Myers.

Despite being nominated for five prizes, hit comedy 'Superbad' failed to land a single accolade.

Tom Cruise presented Adam Sandler with the MTV Generation achievement award, saying: "The man, the icon, the legend."

The 41-year-old 'Happy Gilmore' actor accepted the accolade, before breaking into a rendition of Carly Simon's 'Nobody Does It Better'.
