David Gordon Green will handle directing duties for Universal Pictures’ new comedy Your Highness with Danny McBride.
Variety reports Scott Stuber is set for producing duties through his Universal-based company. The film will start production in January, 2009, based on a screenplay written by McBride and Ben Best.
The comedy follows an arrogant, lazy prince (McBride) who must complete a quest to save his father's kingdom.
In Variety, Stuber stated: "This is such an original idea for a comedy that takes place in a kingdom with dragons and wizards, with Danny at the center as the outcast brother who gets an opportunity to prove himself."
Green worked with McBride on All the Real Girls (which Green also wrote) and the two were college classmates.
McBride is set to hit the screen this weekend with The Foot Fist Way and has two summer comedies in the works – Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder. He is currently filming Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell. The film is an adaptation of the classic television series and will be released through Universal.
