Michael Bay bringing the Ouija Board to the screen

Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes are developing a film based on Hasbro's "Ouija Board" game.

The film, titled "Ouija," will be released through Universal – which has a six-year deal with Hasbro, and will be produced by Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. Hasbro will also have a hand in producing duties on the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Plot details are being kept quiet, but the film is described as a supernatural tale with a Ouija board as the central device of the story. It is not supposed to follow the same lines as Jumanji or Zathura – where the game literally comes to life.

The Hasbro game features a board with the alphabet and numbers on it, and has players place their fingers on a small game piece. During the game, the piece magically (or with “supernatural” help) moves to the board’s letters and numbers to spell out messages from the great beyond.Hasbro's Parker Brothers has been producing the game since 1966, and has sold millions of the game worldwide. Platinum Dunes is also currently at work on a remake of the classic horror franchise Friday the 13th.
