Indiana Jones whips up big bucks at the box office

Steven Spielberg's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is on track to become the second-best Memorial Day opener ever. The film is expected to take in a four-day gross of $126 million from 4,260 runs.

Paramount reports the film’s five-day opening gross is on target for $151 million, and its strong box office debut marks the action-adventure franchise return. The film stars Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Shia LaBeouf, Karen Allen and Ray Winstone.Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" holds the record for the best Memorial Day opener with last year’s take of $139.8 million for the four-day holiday.Disney’s "Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" placed No. 2 over the weekend and declined an estimated 58.2% in its second week for a Friday-to-Sunday total of $23 million from 3,929 runs. The film has made an estimated $91 million in the first 10 days of release.Paramount's "Iron Man” continues to have a huge impact at the box office with an estimated $20.1 million for the weekend and $257.8 million since the film was released. Twentieth Century Fox's "What Happens in Vegas" took the No. 4 place for the weekend and declined 35% in its third week. The film made an estimated $9 million from 31,888 runs for an estimated $54.2 million since its release. Warner Bros.' "Speed Racer" placed No. 5 for the weekend, and declined an estimated 51% for its third week. The film made an estimated $4 million during the holiday weekend.
