Variety reports the film features a script from Paula Milne (The Politician’s Wife), and is being executive produced by David Aukin (Mrs Henderson Presents) and Channel 4’s head of drama Liza Marshall. Hal Vogel (Britz) is handling producing duties for Daybreak Pictures.
Milne used Robert Harvey’s book “The Fall of Apartheid” as a principal source for her script. The film’s pre-sales are being handled at Cannes by Penny Wolf for Target Entertainment.
The film’s plot follows secret talks between Afrikaner members of South Africa’s white rule government and ANC exiles that helped secure the release of Nelson Mandela and end Apartheid in South Africa.
Shooting is planned to take place in the U.K. and South Africa.
