Variety reports Gere will star with Hilary Swank in Amelia – which will tell the story of the famous aviator’s life and relationship with her husband, publisher George Putnam. The film is being directed by Mira Nair from a screenplay by Ron Bass.
Amelia will start shooting this month with locations in Toronto, Nova Scotia and South Africa. Producing duties are being handled by Kevin Hyman, Ted Waitt and Lydia Dean Pilcher with Swank and Bass executive producing.
In Brooklyn's Finest, Gere will star with Don Cheadle and Ethan Hawke. It is being directed by Antoine Fuqua from a screenplay by Michael Martin. Basil Iwanyk and Mary Viola are producing the film.
Brooklyn's Finest’s plot follows three Brooklyn cops who end up in the same deadly place despite different career paths. One is an undercover drug cop, another is trying to bust graft and corruption, and the third has always followed the rules and is retiring.
