Jared Padalecki in talks for Friday the 13th remake

Jared Padalecki is in talks to star in the upcoming remake of the classic horror film Friday the 13th – which Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes is producing for New Line and Paramount. Producing duties on the remake are handled by Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Cale Boyter and Guy Stodel are overseeing the production for New Line according to The Hollywood Reporter.Friday the 13th was originally released by Paramount in 1980, and the franchise went on to create a horror icon with its silent killer, Jason. Although the original film only had Jason make a brief appearance, the remake will focus on the killer of bad teens, and he will be sporting his hockey mask.Padalecki (who stars as Sam Winchester on CW’s hit “Supernatural”) is in talks for the lead role – an investigator trying to determine what happened up at Crystal Lake. The remake has a scheduled release date of Friday, Feb. 13th, 2009.
