Universal has tapped Neil Marshall to direct its adaptation of Drive – based on the James Sallis novel. The film has Hugh Jackman attached to star as a Hollywood stunt driver who also works as a getaway driver in heists.
Variety reports Hossein Amini penned the film’s screenplay and Marc Platt is producing with Jackman and John Palermo.
The film will mark Marshall's first attempt at a “big studio” job for a non-genre picture. Universal is hoping to get production started this summer in L.A., but scheduling could determine Jackman’s involvement.
In Sallis’ novel, the stuntman’s exciting life gets even more exciting when he discovers he has a contract out on his life.
