Jason Patric and Thomas Dekker have signed to join Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin on New Line’s upcoming drama My Sister's Keeper. Alec Baldwin and Joan Cusack will also star in the film.

Director Nick Cassavetes is adapting the Jodi Picoult novel that follows a former district attorney (Diaz) and her fireman husband (Patric) as they are sued by their 13-year-old daughter (Breslin) for emancipation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The couple had the girl so she could help save her ill older sister (Sofia Vassilieva) through several operations. Dekker (Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") will handle the role of the older sister's boyfriend – who is also a cancer survivor.
The film has started shooting in Los Angeles. New Line's Merideth Finn and Mark Kaufman are overseeing production on the film for New Line.
