Justice League back on at Warner Bros.

With the writers strike settled, Warner Bros. is moving forward with plans for a live-action Justice League film. The studio is looking to get the big-budget flick in theaters by 2009.

Variety reports writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney are at work fixing the screenplay and the studio has instructed the cast to continue training for their roles. Director George Miller is in Australia handling pre-production duties. Warners placed the movie (which could be a launching pad for a new franchise and spin-off films) on “indefinite hold” in January and allowed the cast options to expire. At the time, Variety reported the move was to give the writers time to make changes on the script – which would have to wait for the strike to finish.The film, which is based on the popular DC Comic, is set to feature Adam Brody as the Flash, rapper Common as the Green Lantern, and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman. The film was also supposed to feature Superman and Batman, but the studio could be writing the super-heroes out of the story due to their stand-alone projects.
