Street Fighter returns to the big screen

Kristin Kreuk, Michael Clarke Duncan, Chris Klein and Rick Yune have signed on to star in Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom's Street Fighter – which is based on the mega-popular video game franchise. The film will be distributed by Twentieth Century Fox and is set to begin shooting in March. Yune has signed for Gen. Other cast signed for the film are Moon Bloodgood, the Black Eyed Peas’ Tabo, Edmund Chen and Cheng Pei Pei. The film’s villain Bison is yet to be cast.The Street Fighter adaption is being directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak (Romeo Must Die and Exit Wounds) with a screenplay from Justin Marks (Voltron). Hong Kong fight choreographer Dion Lam (The Matrix) is in charge of the film’s fight scenes.Producing is handled by Hyde Park chairman Ashok Amritraj and senior exec Patrick Aiello. Video game publisher Capcom will serve as executive producer.The new film will mark the second time the video game franchise has attempted to leap into the live-action film market. In 1994, Universal released a screen version of the film with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia.The film’s plot is being kept secret at this point, but is said to focus on Chun-Li. Location shooting is scheduled to take place Bangkok, Hong Kong and Vancouver.
