Scorsese looks to Bob Marley for next musical documentary

Martin Scorsese is set to tell the story of iconic reggae star Bob Marley in his next musical themed documentary. EPA/JENS KALAENEVariety reports the director will reteam with Steve Bing's Shangri-La Entertainment and international sales agent Fortissimo Films for the yet-to-be-titled Marley documentary.The trio worked together for Scorsese’s Rolling Stones flick Shine a Light - which kicked off the Berlin Film Festival on Thursday. Tuff Gong Pictures and Shangri-La are lined up to handle producing duties on the film – which has been approved by Marley's family. The film is set for a Feb 6th, 2010, release date. The release date would have been Marley’s 65th birthday.In Variety, Ziggy Marley stated: "I am thrilled that the Marley family will finally have the opportunity to document our father's legacy and are truly honored to have Mr. Scorsese guide the journey."
