Joe Johnston helms Universal’s The Wolfman

Universal has lined up Joe Johnston to replace Mark Romanek in the director’s chair for the upcoming The Wolfman – which has an estimated $100 million budget and is set to start production in London in March.Variety reported Romanek dropped the project last week due to creative differences. The film (which is based on the studio classic) features a script from Andrew Kevin Walker and is produced by Scott Stuber and Mary Parent.Benicio Del Toro is still attached for the lead role in the thriller, and is scheduled to be joined on the film by Anthony Hopkins, playing the title character’s father, and Emily Blunt, who will handle the female lead role.Johnston has directed Hidalgo and Jurassic Park III.
