David Bowers tackles Astro Boy

David Bowers has signed to replace Colin Brady in the director’s chair for the upcoming CG-animated Astro Boy. Variety reports the film (which has an estimated $50 million budget) is being produced by TMNT’s Imagi Studios and is scheduled for a 2009 release through Warner Bros. Pictures and the Weinstein Co.Astro Boy is an adaptation of the comic story created by manga genius Osamu Tezuka and turned into a popular television series in the 1960s.
