Swedish director Ingmar Bergman honoured with stamps

Stockholm - The late Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman is to be honoured with two stamp issues, the Swedish postal services said Wednesday. One of the stamps to be issued Thursday was based on a portrait of Bergman, the other was a scene of the famed director in action on a set of his 1982 movie, Fanny and Alexander, the services said. In addition to his work in film, Bergman also directed numerous stage productions and penned scripts and books. Bergman, who died in July, would have been 90 this year. He won international acclaim with movies like The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, Persona, Hour of the Wolf, and Shame. © 2008 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
