Ortega / PR PhotosVariety reports Panettiere is in talks for the role of the titular character – a cheerleader who becomes the object of a nerdy valedictorian's obsession. The two find themselves on a series of misadventures after he tells the world of his love for her during his graduation speech.The film is based on a story by Larry Doyle (a former writer for "The Simpsons"). Columbus has signed to produce the film through his 1492 Pictures studio.
