Salma Hayek to sport a beard for Cirque du Freak

Salma Hayek has signed to play the bearded lady in Universal’s upcoming horror drama Cirque du Freak – which is based on the bestselling book series by Darren Shan.
Variety reports the film will be the first role for Hayek since her maternity leave and will see the actress star opposite John C. Reilly. Paul Weitz is handling directing duties on the movie (which is set to start production next month) and is producing the film along with Lauren Shuler Donner.
In the film, Reilly will take on the role of a vampire who enlists a 14-year old to serve him as an assistant. The kid is turned into a half-vampire and becomes important to the battle between the vampires and their rivals, the Vampanese. Hayek will play Madame Truska, the bearded lady.
