Jessica Biel has landed the lead role in London-based Ealing Studios’ upcoming romantic comedy Easy Virtue – which is based on the Noel Coward play.
Endgame Entertainment will finance the indie project with Stephan Elliott tapped to direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Sheridan Jobbins. Ealing's Barnaby Thompson is set to handle producing duties and principal photography is scheduled to start this month in London, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Biel will play an American divorcee, Larita Huntington, who moves to the South of France and marries young wealthy Englishman John Whittaker (Ben Barnes). The couple, who barely knew each other before getting married, then return to England and have to deal with his family.
Easy Virtue is based on Coward's 1924 three-act play and was first adapted for film by Alfred Hitchcock in the 1928 silent movie of the same name.
