Alan Arkin joins Marley & Me

Alan Arkin has joined Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston for Fox 2000’s Marley & Me – which will start shooting in the spring. The film is an adaptation of the John Grogan novel and is being directed by David Frankel. Scott Frank penned the most recent draft of the screenplay.In the film, Wilson (in his first role since being hospitalized last summer) will handle the role of a Philadelphia newspaper columnist who adopts a dog with his wife in an attempt to get an idea of what parenthood may be like. The dog turns out to be more than a handful. Arkin has signed for the role of the editor of the newspaper.Marley & Me was scheduled to start shooting in January, but was postponed to make room for Aniston’s other commitments. She was shooting He's Just Not That Into You and Stephen Belber’s Management. Aniston is currently shooting the Brandon Camp film Traveling.
