Ortega / PR PhotosVariety reports the film is inspired by Rajiv Chandrasekaran's nonfiction book "Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone." Greengrass and Brian Helgeland worked the premise into a fictional thriller set inside Iraq’s "Green Zone" – which is a walled area that houses a number of U.S. troops. In the film, Damon will handle the role of an officer who is partnered with a senior CIA officer to find evidence of weapons of mass destruction. Ryan has signed for the role of a New York Times foreign correspondent who goes to Iraq to investigate the U.S. government's WMD accusations. Kinnear will handle the role of another CIA officer, and Antoni Corone has been cast as a colonel. The film is being produced by Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner with Lloyd Levin.
